Purim Costumes
Purim is a classic tale that's been passed down through the generations. The tale comes from the Book of Esther. Of course, the main character of the story is Esther, the niece of Mordecai. Eventually, she catches the eye of the Persian King, Xerxes I and becomes the Queen of Susa, but he doesn't know her secret! She's Jewish, and at the time, let's just say that the Persian Empire didn't exactly have a favorable view towards the Jewish people. When a nefarious official decides he's not a fan of Mordecai or his niece, he cooks up a plan that will get rid of Mordecai and his people forever!
Things looked pretty grim for Mordecai, until Esther spoke up to the king. She revealed her heritage and the devious plot against them, and he made sure to punish the evildoers who would have harmed his queen! It's truly a timeless tale that teaches many lessons, like standing up for your people, even when it could prove dangerous. Now, Jewish people across the world celebrate the liberation of the Jews from Persia during the celebration of Purim. Everyone dresses up in costumes, eats food, and has a good time.
