Product Description
Description
The origin of the artifacts known as dream catchers can be credited to the Ojibwe people, one of the largest tribes in North America. The word in the Ojibwe language for dream catcher is a form of their word for spider. That makes sense with the intricate web-like patterns that are displayed within their willow hoops. They were used by the Ojibwe tribe and adopted among other neighboring tribes as a form of protection against nightmares.

Just as a spider's web would snare anything that came into contact with it, these dream catchers would snag any bad dreams attempting to enter the mind of children. As soon as the sun would rise all of the nightmares were said to disappear with the light of day. During the 1960's and 1970's many more tribes had taken up the practice of fashioning dream catchers as well and many began to consider them as a symbol of peace and unity among the various Native Nations. So if you are still looking for a few accessories to your native American costume don't pass up on this Dream Catcher Necklace, or if you've simply been having trouble sleeping due to night terrors maybe try this protective charm to gain some peace and quiet at night.
